Silver Needle is made only from the buds, which are the most tender part of tea plants and is covered with small white pekoe. The leaves have a long and skinny shape, which makes it look like a ‘Silver Needle’.
Some people believe white tea is the earliest form of tea, based on the fact that its processing only consists of drying the leaves. Unlike green tea which is fried or steamed to stop oxidation, white tea uses a natural withering process that lasts for days before the tea is brought inside and stored.
The best white tea is made from the buds and leaves of a particular tea plant cultivar – Da Bai Hao. This cultivar can only be found in Fuding or Zhenghe counties of Fujian province in China, where our Silver Needle is sourced.
